It's all about learning; the rest is technology: promoting active learning

In two days time we will host our mini-conference online. The event is free and open to everyone interesting in discussing about new approaches to learning by mentoring in the digital age.

This is event is organised by Vitae - a two year EC funded project, which aims at empowering vocational teachers to mentor their students and colleagues to work competently in the digital world.

The Vitae Consortium has invited key speakers in this area to present at the event.

Helen Keegan is a Researcher and Lecturer in Interactive Media, based in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering at the University of Salford in the UK. She works on a variety of funded projects relating to web 2.0 in education and is actively involved in staff and curriculum development, specialising in social and educational technologies, online communities, digital identity and digital literacy. Her research focuses are on social networking and social software, and the interplay between formal and informal learning. She is a member of many EdTech communities, and presents/publishes internationally in the area of ICT in education.

Nicky Hockly is the Director of Pedagogy of The Consultants-E. She is co-author of ‘How to Teach English with Technology’ with Gavin Dudeney (Longman 2007), which won the 2007 Ben Warren International House Trust Prize. She specialises in online teaching and training via virtual learning environments such as Moodle, and is also very interested in the application of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) in the language classroom. She lives in Barcelona, Spain.

Niels Damgaard is an educated Danish teacher and has been working with school libraries most of his life in Denmark, Greenland and Norway. In the last 13 year as a senior adviser for Norwegian school libraries in Biblioteksentralen – in Oslo, Norway He runs a Nordic NING for school libraries.
